Geek Christmas

I guess this is a fun happy time Christmas geek wish list.
1. Netflix
With NXE, watch movies anytime through your xbox on your tv. AWESOME. 9 bucks a month.
2. Ipod Touch/Iphone
These things are ridiculously powerful. Last year I was wowing about the Kindle. This can do all that that can (download books, newspapers, etc) and play Youtube, surf the internet, have lightsaber battles, play games (and not just regular games, like quake 3 levels of games) so much free things. (apps) There was a webcomic talking about the how you can call anyone, meet anyone and find the directions to anywhere in the world. You can look at anywhere in the world, anywhere in the world. And how you would have crashed you flying car anyway. The Iphone is the first landmard that the future is here.
3. Steam Games
Team Fortress 2, Left 4 Dead. Valve keeps coming up with these awesome games, but I can't bring myself to get them because of the Mac. Now that I have the desktop in optimal gaming position, i have been using it more. These games look amazing.
4. A Hacked Original Xbox HDD.
So I can place emulators and a media server on my old xbox. This is way to complicated to do myself. It involves unhooking your xbox HDD while the power is on, and when you hit that point its time to stop.
5. Rechargable Batteries Packs for 360 and Wii. The Wii batteries just keep dying, and the i still need 1 for the 360.
6. TV series.
One can never have enough TV series. If You own it, and think i should own it, theres a good chance i need to watch it. Unless your Cody. Then reverse that. Same thing for books.
7. Something that would help write more in this blog. Something not numerical post wise, just more verbose posts.

MacBook

I suppose I should say something about the new laptop, a Macbook from 1 gen back. The lowest level solid white. I have several opinions about it after using it.

OS X
Very shiny, Cool easy to use

All of the new cool stuff was ported directly from linux. Spaces and Time Capusle, just right from Ubuntu.


Mac Hardware
Smaller than I am used to, really light, and quality stuff. Everything is really well made. THE TOUCHPAD IS HUGE. No really, its the size of the Ipod.

But everything was made difficult for the user. Instead of having a regular HDMI port or DVI port on the side, neither are larger than the mini-DVI. But you have to puchase a mini-DVI to DVI or HDMI cable AND then you have to buy the Cable. NEITHER of which will work unless they are specifically made by apple, they won't work. If I purchase a new video card for my PC, it come with 2 DVI ports, 1 DVI->VGA adapter, 1 DVI -> HDMI adapter, A DVI cord. Also mini-DVI IS ONLY USED IN APPLE PRODUCTS. They didn't have to create a new format for this.

Also my touchpad can support multitouch gestures, but becasue i have a Macbook and not a Macbook pro, i can't use them.

I might just end up putting Vista or Ubuntu on this guy.

Wuxi Finger Hold

So i just rented Kung Fu Panda, and still wondering about the Wuxi Finger Hold they reference. I was thinking that it was some sort of inner movie joke about the chinese version of the Pull My Finger Joke, but i didn't see anything else that would give me any evidence of that.

But anyway, I laughed the other day at the open discussion forum for the election results. There was a chick who said something derogatory about Obama winning the Election, and cause quite and uproar. She said something along the lines about a hunting trip and causing an accident, there were a bunch of irritated people and she had to explain herself. I noted that she should be expecting a call from the Policia about that, and my roommate was quite confident that they can't do anything if the threat was made with joking intent. And I just Laughed and LAUGHED.

They can do anything they want. I guess he wasn't paying attention in 2001 and 2002.

Oh, watching the stuff leading up to the Election is almost as good as watching the resulting people fight it out. It was like the newest South Park episode, where the Obama people were out in the streets and partying, and the McCain people were hiding in fallout shelters. Obama people were too exited for something that was going to happen. McCain people got way to butthurt.
